Nintendo to Release a Mini NES This Holiday Season

Nintendo announced they would be releasing a Plug & Play device that would play classic NES titles on modern TVs. Dubbed the NES Classic Edition, the unit literally looks like a miniature version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, complete with the classic controller, which is probably why everybody seems to be calling it the NES Mini. Launching on Nov. 11 in the U.S., it will retail for $59.99.

While the system won’t play cartridges, it will come installed with 30 classic NES games, such as Tecmo BowlFinal Fantasy and all three Super Mario Bros. games. It also comes equipped with a number of other essential features for those who want to blend modern and classic gaming. The first being save points for the games, eliminating the need for passwords. Hopefully, the password feature will stay activated for same games for cheat code purposes(*cough*Metroid*cough*Justin Bailey*cough*). The unit will also connect to your TV/monitor with an HDMI cable, making the games look as amazing as possible on your big screen TV. The controller that comes equipped with the NES Classic Edition will also connect to your Wii remote, making it usable for your Virtual Console games, as well.
