EA Play Summary and Liveblog Archive
With an unprecedented move, EA moved their show down the road from E3 in the form of EA Play. OmniGamer did up-to-the-minute live-blog updates on June 12 from 1:00PM – 2:00PM PT (4-5PM ET). Titanfall 2‘s trailer was leaked before the event started. It showed off the protagonist, Jack Cooper and his sentient Titan. The titan hopes to uphold the mission and protect his pilot. There will be six different Titans each with their own abilities that can be customized. We also saw stealth modes, lasers, gravity disruptors and grappling hooks. The game will be available on October 28, 2016.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, took the stage in LA and Peter Moore was in London. Time was taken to look at Madden 17 and FIFA 17, before we got our first look at Mass Effect: Andromeda. BioWare focused on the freedom of a new galaxy and how much better the game will be since it was build with the Frostbite Engine. The game also has a new cast of characters.
They also wanted to take time to note their EA Originals program as they work with indie developers. The first to be showcased was Fe by Zoink Games. Lots of flying and jumping played a role in traversing the stylized environment.
More attention was played to Star Wars. We heard from DICE and Motive Studios on how they plan to add more characters, planets, eras and environments to Star Wars Battlefront. Respawn Entertainment and Capital Games talked about Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and how they hope to incorporate characters from all the films and television shows so that players can have whatever battles they can imagine. We also heard about Star Wars: The Old Republic from Bioware.
However, he main focus of EA Play was highlight Battlefield 1 which has the ability to run a 62 multiplayer battle. Jamir Foxx and Zac Efron-led two teams to battle after the conference ended. During this, we saw how the environment shows of the destruction as buildings can be completely leveled. We watched tanks plow through the enemy line and blimps rain torrents of bullets. We viewed sniper rifles and cannons. We also saw how dynamic weather can turn the tides of battle, for instance, fog rendering sniper rifles practically useless. Early Access for EA Insiders will take place this summer. The game will be available to everyone October 21, 2016.
