Dragon Quest Builders Ventures West

Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Builders will arrive in North America this October on PS4 and PS Vita (digitally only for the Vita). This release celebrates Dragon Quest’s 30th anniversary.

Players will be able to gather and combine a variety of tools and materials in order to rebuild Alefgard, a realm destroyed by the Dragonlord, the ruler of monsters. According to a press release from Square Enix, Dragon Quest Builders is a sandbox builder with a story and some familiar characters and monsters. In laymen terms, it’s Dragon Quest meets Minecraft with a story and adorable slime.

The story premise is as follows: the realm of Alefgard was engulfed in an ongoing battle between the humans and the monsters. A celebrated hero stood up and confronted the Dragonlord put an end to the conflict. However, the Dragonlord deceived the hero into a false deal, and Alefgard was destroyed in the process. The few survivors were robbed of the power to build and scattered around wandering the world. Mankind lost its imagination and creativity and became scavengers.

After many centuries, a new hero is awoken by the spirit of the land. He is supposed to rebuild the ruined realm and bring an end to the Dragonlord’s reign of evil once and for all.

Additionally, to continue the celebration of the 30th anniversary, Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree’s Woe and the Blight Below will be offered at a discounted pricing on Steam and the PlayStation Store until May 31. PlayStation Plus members can also purchase the game with an additional discount during this time.
