Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 The Giant a Standalone Package

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies map ‘The Giant’ has been released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC for $5.99. The map is a remake of Der Riese, first featured in Call of Duty: World at War and was previously only available to players who bought the Juggernog, Hardened or Deluxe Editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. However, it’s now being released as a standalone item for purchase seven months after the game was initially launched.

The Giant takes place in a top-secret research facility and continues the story of classic characters Dempsey, Richtofen, Nikolai, and Takeo as they attempt to take on hordes of (Nazi) zombies.

Der Riese was first released in 2009 as a part of the third map pack for World at War and introduced the Pack-a-Punch Machine that allowed players to upgrade their weapons as well as being the first zombies map to feature teleporters. The map was popular enough that it was re-issued as part of the Prestige and Hardened editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops then released to all players as part of the Rezurrection map pack.

The Giant is also being released for the PS3. Activision says more news on the availability of the map on last-gen consoles is still to come.
